The Americana Music Association applauds the Recording Academy® for adding a new category - Best American Roots Music Performance, an artist’s award - to the American Roots Music Field for the 2015 GRAMMY® Awards.  The new category will give Americana, and other roots music artists, a home for the recognition of their work.
Nashville, Tenn. May 12, 2014 – The Americana Music Association announced its nominees today for the 2014 Americana Honors & Awards, presented by Nissan. SiriusXM "Apron Strings" host and artist Elizabeth Cook revealed the nominations during a press conference that broadcast live on SiriusXM's "Outlaw Country" and streamed via MusicCityRoots.com from the network's Music City Theatre in Nashville.
In 2014, Lincoln Center Out of Doors launches Americanafest NYC, a new partnership with the Americana Music Association, the 15-year-old Nashville-based not-for-profit that advocates for the authentic voice of American roots music.

It will be a one day celebration of roots inspired music, taking place on May 31, 2014 at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN. Americana stalwarts Patty Griffin and John Hiatt will co-headline the two stage, seven hour musical dayfest that will also feature Ashley Monroe, Brandy Clark, Parker Millsap, Joe Pug and Luther Dickinson.
