The Americana Music Association and Lincoln Center Present AMERICANAFEST NYC

// 6.22.22

NASHVILLE, Tenn. and NEW YORK (June 22, 2022) — AMERICANAFEST NYC returns for the seventh year after a two-year COVID hiatus. Presented by the Americana Music Association in partnership with Lincoln Center and its Summer for the City series, AMERICANAFEST NYC will bring the sounds of roots, folk, soul and more to the Lincoln Center campus on Saturday, August 6 at 7:15 PM EST. This is the seventh edition of AMERICANAFEST NYC at Lincoln Center, where it has been a staple of free summer programming for many years.

The War And Treaty (Michael and Tanya Trotter) will kick off the night with a set of their own music, then lead a special musical salute to Ray Charles, joined by special guests to be announced at a later date. The event will be free; no tickets required. Limited Free Advance Reservations will be available as well starting Monday, August 1 at noon on

“Michael and I are massive fans of the genius of Mr. Ray Charles,” says Tanya. “To have the chance to induct him into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year was truly a 'wake me up I’m dreaming' moment, but to continue to honor this great body of work at such a historical venue in New York… you can’t dream this. It’s a divine order.”

The War And Treaty have amassed a following as eclectic as their sound itself with "voices that will stop you in your tracks” (Garden and Gun) and their bluesy but joyful fusion of Southern soul, gospel, country, and rock-and-roll. The husband-and-wife team of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter "continue their commando, no-limits journey to the top of the music world" (Associated Press) as they recently earned a nomination for Duo/Group of the Year at the 2022 Americana Honors & Awards Ceremony and just signed their first major record deal with Universal Music Group Nashville. They are recording now with new music expected later this year. Known for a live show nearly revival-like in its intensity, they "build up waves of emotion that crash into a cathartic release of a tour-de-force performance," (Austin-American Statesman) as the versatile duo has opened for artists such as Al Green, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, John Legend and Lauren Daigle while their multifaceted collaborative efforts include Dierks Bentley, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Leslie Jordan, Mumford & Sons, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Sturgill Simpson. It was just announced that Gary Gilbert’s Gilbert Films, Mike Jackson and John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co., and Harvey Mason Jr.’s Harvey Mason Media have tapped director Numa Perrier to create the screenplay for the upcoming major film release behind "The War And Treaty" based on the couple's true story as Michael and Tanya serve as Executive Producers on the film.
